Autumn / winter 2012

Inspired by popular culture, this seasonS collaboration is with Disney Couture to create a more conceptual collection with the global cartoon icons of Mickey and Minnie mouse as its ongoing motifs. The inspired graphic shapes combined with a colour palette of only red white and black create a collection that is it is both graphic and bold with a pop art feel, offering pieces with a nostalgic edge.

It is not only the bold use of colour that stands out in this collection but the expert way Shilpa plays with texture and materials.

For the first time Littleshilpa has expanded into fabric dresses as before she was well known for her accessories.

Perspex has been used to wonderful effect on both dresses and headpieces giving life to the well-known Disney symbols.

Appliquéd to jersey dresses, sometimes layered over net, the Disney symbol of Mickey Mouse’s head is repeated throughout.

Occasionally it is cleverly designed parts of these characters or symbols associated with Disney such as starts and hearts that provide inspiration, which can be seen particularly in the headpieces and accessories.

Taking her inspiration from “material memories, the nostalgic past, postmodern present and the impending future’ Shilpa has created a collection that takes inspiration from this iconic shape and transformed it with great flare into something modern and altogether unique.
